As we reported a while ago, Google will "cut" the application this year YouTube Go. Another lightweight app, Gallery Go, could suffer the same fate. At least that's what the dropping of that "Go" epithet from her name that happened last week suggests.

Google introduced a version in 2017 Androidus by name Android Go, which was designed specifically for devices with weaker hardware. He then started to release lightweight versions of well-known applications on it, which were labeled Go. In the first wave, these were applications such as Google Go, Maps Go, YouTube Go or Gmail Go.

The Gallery Go app was released in mid-2019 as a lightweight version of Google Photos and focused mainly on offline use. Less than 10MB in size, the app can automatically sort your library into people, selfies, animals, nature, documents, videos and movies, while offering simple editing for automatic enhancements.

Released last week, version 1.8.8.436428459 is simply called Gallery. "Go" has been removed from the name and icon, the app bar and the Google Play store page. With over 100 million downloads, it's one of several lightweight Google apps available for all devices. As for whether the fate of the YouTube Go application will really follow, the technology giant will hopefully give us an answer soon.

You can install the Gallery app from Google Play
