There has been speculation for some time that the Samsung Display division is planning to stop producing LCD panels. According to older unofficial reports, it was supposed to end their production at the end of 2020, later reports mentioned last year. However, Samsung seems to have changed its mind, as the production of LCD panels continues. He apparently did so in connection with the increased demand for them during the coronavirus pandemic. However, according to the latest news from South Korea, the Korean giant has definitely decided to end this business soon.

According to a report published by the Korea Times website, Samsung will close its LCD panel factories in June. He says he no longer wants to compete in a market dominated by cheaper panels from Chinese and Taiwanese companies. Perhaps a more important reason, however, is that LCD panels do not fit into his long-term vision for the display segment. The company wants to focus on OLED and QD-OLED displays in the future.

If we are talking about Samsung factories, one of them in Thailand was affected by a fire, specifically in the province of Samut Prakan. 20 fire engines were called to the fire and managed to put it out in about an hour. According to the local police, it could have been caused by a short circuit. Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths, but some products were damaged.

This is not the first fire that has affected Samsung devices. In 2017, a fire broke out at the factory of the Samsung SDI division in China, and three years later, a fire broke out at the domestic chip factory in Hwasong city, as well as at the OLED display factory in Asan.
