Google has started rolling out a new update for the web version of its Google Meet video calling app. It brings two practical innovations: the PiP (Picture-in-Picture) function and the ability to attach multiple video channels.

Tapping the menu icon with three dots next to the hang button will now display a new Open picture-in-picture option. The one in the lower right corner of the screen will open a miniature window, while the full window will allow the user to quickly "transfer the call back here" because all the controls remain in it.

A floating PiP window on top of Chrome displays up to four Google Meet tiles. Each stream still names the person and displays additional status icons, while it's possible to quickly mute or mute the video, end the call, or go back to full screen.

Google Meet also now allows you to pin multiple video channels instead of just one. This gives the user more flexibility in mixing people and content and allows them to customize the display to best suit the current meeting. Google started releasing the new update yesterday and it should reach all users in the coming days or weeks.
