Samsung has Apple together, they fought a nearly decade-long legal battle in which the Cupertino company claimed that the Korean giant had copied the iPhone's design. The main lawsuit wound its way through the US court system, and finally ended settlement between the two companies. Neither company disclosed the terms of the settlement. However, Apple executives still seem to be adamant that their technology has been copied by Samsung.

The company's marketing chief has now published these assumptions Apple Greg Joswiak in a new documentary by The Wall Street Journal looking back at the 15-year history of the iPhone and what it brought to the world. The documentary features interviews with Tony Fadell, believed to be the co-creator of the iPhone, and the company's marketing chief Apple By Greg Joswiak.

In one part of the video, it is emphasized here that the trend of larger displays was pushed by manufacturers Androidu, especially Samsung, even before it was resorted to by i Apple on their iPhones. Joswiak was asked how old he was at the time Apple influenced by what Samsung and other OEMs did Androidu. "They were annoying," he literally said and added: “As you know, they stole our technology. They took the innovations we created and made a bad copy of it, just put it on a bigger screen. So yeah, we weren't too happy.'

Some of the first models of the series Galaxy With a Galaxy The Note was labeled as an iPhone "robber" and the media gave Samsung a reputation as an imitator. But blaming Samsung for seemingly copying the iPhone's design was far-fetched. Yes, his phones did have a home button under the display, but so did almost every other phone on the market. However, the criticisms were clearly aimed only at the biggest player, and thus also at Apple's biggest competitor.

Samsung set trends

But it was Samsung that, as one of the first manufacturers, started promoting larger displays. When he arrived at the beginning of 2013 Galaxy The S4, had a 5-inch display, while the iPhone 5 still stuck to the 4-inch solution at the time. When Apple he saw larger displays become popular, despite the apparent opposition of the company's co-founder Apple Steve Jobs came up with a 4,7-inch phone the very next year iPhonem 6 and 5,5-inch iPhonem 6 Plus.

It was also Samsung that popularized smartphones without the presence of a physical home button. The series was launched in early 2017 Galaxy S8, which already lacked it. Thanks to this, this machine could offer a larger display without increasing its dimensions. Only then did he come iPhone X, the first Apple smartphone that also lacked a home button.

Another important target was 5G. Samsung already launched in February 2019 Galaxy The S10 5G, which was one of the first 5G flagship phones in the world. It wasn't until almost a year and a half later that he introduced Apple its iPhone 12 series with 5G support. The first Samsung tablet with an AMOLED display was released in 2011. From the series Galaxy The 2014 Tab S was all of the company's flagship tablets equipped with an OLED display. Apple meanwhile, it still hasn't made a single iPad with an OLED display (though its flagship iPad Pro has a miniLED).

It's about money

Apple makes a conscious effort to prioritize revenue from software services over hardware. It lost its soul to the design-focused company, and that was one of the reasons why its former head of design and one of Steve Jobs' closest collaborators, Jony Ive, decided to leave in 2019. He simply felt that he no longer had a place at Apple. Apple is a completely different company today than it was when he was fighting Samsung in courtrooms. It's basically a software company that also makes hardware (when you're making nearly $80 billion in subscription revenue, it's clear that it doesn't care about anything else).

The reality is that it has given up on innovation while Samsung has once again embarked on the path of revolutionizing the smartphone industry as we know it. Of course, we are referring to flexible phones, where in just three years he managed to transform his foldable smartphones from an obscure idea into a well-developed product that is now used by millions of people around the world.
