We probably don't need to write here that the camera is among the most important factors that decide to buy a phone. Today, the cameras in some smartphones (of course, we are talking about flagship models) are so technologically advanced that the images produced by them are slowly but surely approaching the photos taken by professional cameras. But how are the cameras in mid-range phones, in our case Galaxy A53 5G, which for some time (along with its sibling Galaxy A33 5G) we thoroughly test?

Camera specifications Galaxy A53 5G:

  • Wide Angle: 64 MPx, lens aperture f/1.8, focal length 26 mm, PDAF, OIS
  • Ultra Wide: 12 MPx, f/2.2, angle of view 123 degrees
  • Macro camera: 5 MPx, f / 2.4
  • Depth camera: 5 MPx, f / 2.4
  • Front camera: 32 MPx, f / 2.2

What to say about the main camera? So much so that it produces very solid-looking photos that are well-lit, sharp, relatively faithful in color, full of detail and have a relatively wide dynamic range. At night, the camera produces passable images that have a tolerable level of noise, a decent amount of detail and are not overexposed, although of course it all depends on how close you are to the light source and how intense that light is. However, it should be mentioned that some of the photos were slightly off in color.

The digital zoom, which offers 2x, 4x and 10x zoom, will also do you a good service, while even the largest one is surprisingly usable - for specific purposes, of course. At night, the digital zoom is almost not worth using (not even the smallest one), because there is too much noise and the level of detail drops rapidly.

As for the ultra-wide camera, it also takes decent pictures, although the colors are not as saturated as the photos produced by the main camera. Distortion at the edges is visible, but it is not a tragedy.

Then we have the macro camera, which is certainly not as numerous as many affordable Chinese phones. Probably because its resolution is 5 MPx and not the usual 2 MPx. The macro shots are really good, although the background blur could be a bit stronger at times.

Underlined, summed up, Galaxy The A53 5G takes definitely above-average photos. Of course, it doesn't have the full top, after all, that's what the flagship series is all about Galaxy S22, however, the average user should be satisfied. The quality of the camera is also evidenced by the fact that it scored a very respectable 105 points in the DxOMark test.
