Studio Niantic, the developers of the ever-popular Pokémon GO, have announced their next project. From a company known for their use of augmented reality technology comes a game partially inspired by their previous works. NBA All World, however, will unconventionally combine the mentioned technology with the realities of the most famous basketball league in the world. Instead of pocket monsters, you'll collect basketball stars in the game and challenge other players to matches on courts scattered around the real world.

The first preview suggests that Niantic will once again focus on making the game as big a global success as possible, for which they can use the huge amount of data provided by a number of their past projects. At the same time, the developers are talking about the fact that the game will take place in the metaverse. But we can take this term with a grain of salt as a marketing buzzword. They describe the metaverse itself as a mere connection of the real world with the virtual one, which would mean that it would also take place in it, for example, the studio's first, now cult Ingress.

After all, the game finds a unique way to bring the real world into a virtual form. Individual courts and other interesting places can usually be found at real locations somehow related to basketball. So if you have a few hoops nearby, you can count on playing with your virtual stars there too. We don't yet know when exactly we can expect the release of NBA All World, but the first closed beta tests should start soon.
