Samsung published an estimate of its financial results for this year's second quarter. It follows from them that its operating profit should reach 14 trillion won (about 267,6 billion CZK), which would represent year-on-year growth of 11,38%. At the same time, it would be the highest operating profit of the Korean giant in the last four years.

Samsung besides expects, that its chip division will earn 2022 trillion won (approx. CZK 76,8 trillion) in the April-June 1,4 period, which would be 20,9% more year-on-year. The company has not yet published a detailed breakdown of the individual divisions, it will do so at the end of the month as part of the "sharp" financial results. Behind such an increase in profit is the constant demand for memory chips for servers and data centers. Global supplies of DRAM and NAND flash memories in the period in question grew year-on-year by 9, respectively 2%.

But the second half of the year is expected to be a little more gloomy for Samsung, mainly due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, rising inflation and a new wave of covid lockdowns in China, which analysts say will negatively affect demand across industries and reduce purchasing power consumers. According to analyst firm Gartner, for example, global smartphone shipments will fall by 7,6% this year.
