The infamous Joker malware has reappeared in several apps that have a combined total of over 100 downloads. This is not the first time that apps with this malicious code have managed to enter the Google Play Store.

Joker last made himself known in December, when he was discovered in the Color Message app, which had more than half a million installs before Google pulled it from its store. Now, the security company Pradeo has found it in four other apps and has already alerted Google to them. Joker is difficult to detect because he uses very little code and thus leaves no noticeable traces. Over the past three years, it has been found in thousands of apps, all of which were distributed through the Google Store.

It falls under the category of fleeceware, which means its main activity is to sign up the victim for unwanted paid services or to call or send "texts" to premium numbers. It has now been specifically discovered in Smart SMS Messages, Blood Pressure Monitor, Voice Languages Translator and Quick Text SMS. So if you have any of these apps installed on your phone, delete them immediately.
