Whether it's a coincidence or a natural evolution of design, all smartphones share a common DNA. The days of the Blackberry are long gone, and all smartphones available today have a rectangular display with a cutout, a punch-hole, or an exceptionally hidden selfie camera. However, it is different with smart watches.

Apple claims that Samsung stole its iPhone design, which basically means that every other phone maker has done the same Androidem. Whether that's true or not is another matter, but the truth is that most smartphones really do look a lot alike, at least from the front. With regard to smart watches, however, manufacturers often take a different route. It's a market segment where it doesn't seem to care what it does Apple, and other solutions are also successful.

Own path

What it would mean for the smart wearables market if they were Apple Watch compatible with Androidum, we don't know. But we know that smart watches Galaxy they never tried to be Apple Watch. Although it can Apple to claim that every Samsung phone today is inspired by the iPhone in some way, the same cannot be said about the smartwatch market. The reason is simple. Samsung doesn't care about Apple's smartwatch design.

Apple Watch they are by far the most successful smartwatch on the market, there's no denying that. Still, Samsung has yet to attempt to emulate their success by copying their design. Due to Galaxy Watch a Apple Watch in fact, they couldn't be more different. Samsung simply deserves praise for sticking to its vision and not trying to copy Apple's rectangular shape, which it came up with back in 2015 and has practically not changed it until now.

Samsung also deserves credit for boosting the entire wearables market outside of the company's ecosystem Apple. Rather than riding on the American company's success, a number of other smartwatch makers have followed suit and come up with their own circular designs. After all, even the upcoming Pixel Watch Google will have a circular case (but with a crown instead of buttons).

Persistent form factor

Samsung has had multiple opportunities to drastically change the design of its watches over the past few years Galaxy Watch. For example, in 2021, when it switched from the Tizen operating system to Wear OS, and even this year, when they will probably cancel the Classic model and replace it with the Pro model. But it seems that it has never questioned its decision to create a circular smartwatch, and is still faithful to what has already become its tradition - the circular display.

Samsung despite the success Apple Watch retains its originality. Still, the question remains: Should it try to copy Apple's success and steal some of its market share by creating its own rectangular variant of the watch Galaxy Watch? Or should the Korean tech giant continue to ignore Apple's suggestions and stay 100% true to the circular case formula derived from the classic watch industry?
