Especially in summer, this is a common situation. Whether you're at the pool, the swimming pool, or you're going to the sea, and you can't take your phone with you, it's easy to get it wet in some way. Many phone models Galaxy they are waterproof, but that doesn't mean they can't be harmed by some kind of liquid.

Most devices Galaxy it is resistant to dust and water and has the highest degree of protection IP68. The latter allows submersion to a depth of 1,5 meters for up to 30 minutes, but the device should not be exposed to greater depths or areas with higher water pressure. If your device is in a depth of 1,5 meters for more than 30 minutes, you can drown it. So even if you own a waterproof device, it has been tested under laboratory conditions using typically fresh water. Salty sea water or chlorinated pool water can still have a negative effect on it. So what do you do if your phone falls into water or gets splashed with liquid?

Turn off the phone

It is the first and most important step. If you don't turn off the phone, the heat generated while the device is running could potentially damage or corrode the internal motherboard. If the battery is removable, quickly remove the device from the cover, remove the battery, SIM card and, if applicable, the memory card. Instant shutdown is usually done by pressing and holding the volume down button and the side button simultaneously for three to four seconds.

Remove moisture

Dry the phone as quickly as possible after turning it off. Remove as much moisture as possible from the battery, SIM card, memory card, etc. using a dry towel or a clean, ideally lint-free cloth. Focus mainly on those places where water can get inside the device, such as the headphone jack or the charging connector. You can expel water from the connector by tapping the device with the connector down in the palm of your hand.

Dry the phone

After removing the moisture, leave the device to dry in a well-ventilated place or in a shady place where cool air is ideal. Attempting to quickly dry the device with a hair dryer or hot air may result in damage. Even after drying for a long time, moisture may still be present in the device, so it is best not to turn on the device until you visit a service center and have it checked (unless it has a certain water resistance rating).

Other pollution

If liquid such as drinks, seawater or chlorinated pool water etc. enters the device, it is extremely important to remove salt or other impurities as soon as possible. Again, these foreign substances can accelerate the corrosion process of the motherboard. Turn off the device, remove all removable parts, immerse the device in clean water for approximately 1-3 minutes, then rinse. Then remove the moisture again and dry the phone.
