In mid-May, Google released an update to its lightweight Go Camera app for Android phones Android with lower performance. It was version 3.3 which came from version 2.12. The user interface was even clearer, and the present counter finally clearly shows users how many photos can still be taken with respect to the current storage of the device.

This update also renamed the app from Go Camera purely to Camera, and customized its icon accordingly. Even then, the description of the application referred to it as Google Camera, so it may not be too surprising that now the title is being renamed again and is receiving an epithet in the form of the company's name.

"With Google Camera, you won't miss a moment. Features like portrait, night vision or stabilization allow you to take fantastic pictures and videos.” says the title's description on Google Play. However, the application will also offer HDR+ and features such as Best Shot, Super Sharp Zoom, Motion Mode or Long Shot for low-end phones.

Considering that the Camera and Gallery applications have already gotten rid of the "Go" label and YouTube Go will be discontinued next month, it is clear that the last stage of renaming is taking place. It's not clear at this point if the company is just updating the brand or taking a new approach to perhaps reach another billion users.
