Even though the weather has turned a bit bad for us, summer is definitely not over. In addition, you can use this trick at any time of the year, whether you are in the deep forests or on top of the mountains, that is, in the summer or in the winter or at any other time, both here and abroad. So do you know how to call from places where the signal is bad?
This is an emergency solution in those cases when you need to call for help or you have to make some other phone call even from the place where you normally don't have a signal or the signal is very weak. The problem here is that different transmitters have different networks. In the Czech Republic, 4G/LTE is widespread and work is currently underway on the widespread introduction of 5G, however, 2G is practically everywhere. Yes, you will still come across places where there is no signal (for example, around Kokořínsk), but these places are decreasing all the time.
So if you have 3G (which is being phased out), 4G/LTE and 5G networks enabled on your device, your phone will connect to these networks, even if their signal is bad. But if you switch to simple 2G, which is the case with phones with Androidem by turning off mobile data, then you will only connect to the 2G network, the coverage of which is noticeably better. Yes, it is true here that you will lose your internet connection, but for the moment when you make that important phone call or send a classic SMS, you will probably manage.
If you would like to check the coverage of the Czech Republic by domestic operators, you can click on their maps under the links below.
I do not think that informace it is correct in the article. If I turn off mobile data on the phone, the phone doesn't need to report to the 2G (GSM) network. After all, calls can also be made via VoLTE, for example. In addition, I use the NetMonster application, which shows which network the SIM card is currently connected to - I just tried turning off mobile data and wifi, and I'm logged in under 4G. Therefore, you will only log in to 2G for me if you select the "Only 2G (GSM)" option in the network settings instead of "Automatically (2G/3G/4G/5G)...
Wtf
It's funny that the author points out that if I turn off my data, I won't have internet...if I don't have a signal, then logically there won't be internet either?
"Yes, you will lose your internet connection here, but for the moment when you make that important phone call or send a classic SMS, you will probably be fine."
This is exactly what the phone already does on its own, if it doesn't have 5g, it tries 4g, and if it doesn't either, then 3g and so on... And sometimes it's even 2g's turn
Unfortunately, my operator has a very bad signal at work. If I have the network on "Automatic" and prefer 4g, the phone does exactly what it should. Sometimes I'm on 4g, other times I'm on 2g, depending on how "the wind is blowing". I often have no signal, or a 2g signal from a neighboring state. So an article about nothing.
I already know all this a long time ago, but the person in question forgot to write that in that case the internet will not work, it will turn on slowly like edge used to do.. who remembers, unusable
In Greece, I had a problem with a weaker 4G network, so I could use data, I manually selected the 4G network and it still kicked me to the 2G network. Unbelievable pain to keep switching manually to preferred network..😆
I am dealing with the same problem in the city. The 4G signal is weak, but due to the preference for mobile data, the phone stays here even if the 2G signal is excellent. Then the call is worth a fart. I think it is not enough to just turn off mobile data, but it will help to reset the network preference
