The so-called VOD services have recently enjoyed unprecedented popularity. Video On Demand is appealing to more and more people. The reason is quite simple - it's convenient, the offer of movies and series is comprehensive and the price is not that high. The clear king is still Netflix, although this year we also got HBO Max or Disney+, and we have regulars like Apple TV+ or Amazon Prime Video. How to save on Netflix and other services if you use them?
Here you will find some of the simplest tips that are based on the basic concept of the platform. These are not illegal or complicated tricks, just recommendations that may not occur to everyone when setting up a service. They can actually be practiced on other platforms as well, with the exception of choosing a different Netflix tariff, because most have only one, and that's mainly where this one stands out a bit.

Don't subscribe to a plan that your connection can't handle
Netflix offers three subscription options. Basic Basic will cost you CZK 199 per month and you will be able to watch the available content in normal quality. The Standard tariff costs CZK 259 and already offers Full HD resolution. The premium version costs CZK 319 and provides Full HD and Ultra HD (4K) content where available. But if your internet does not support the higher quality of the stream, it is relatively useless to subscribe to it. You can download content for offline viewing, but it's tedious. The difference between the Basic and Premium tariffs is 120 CZK per month, so thanks to your moderate choice you will save 1 CZK per year.
Netflix also offers a link to measurement on its website speed your connection. For a Basic subscription, you only need 3 Mb/s, in HD it is 5 Mb/s, and in 4K/Ultra HD it is even 25 Mb/s.

The Basic, Standard and Premium tariffs differ not only in the quality of the watched content and the price, although this is the most important difference. But why pay for 4K content if you won't have a place to play it anyway? If you don't own a 4K TV or monitor, it's really a waste, because you won't know the quality on a mobile device or laptop anyway. Here, too, it is worthwhile to think about what you will consume the content on, and if you have it primarily for travel, it is better to save.
Family sharing
There is strength in numbers, and if you have someone around you who wanted to join in watching Netflix, they don't have to set up a solo plan if you reach for the family plan together. If you go for the middle plan, you get more for less. If you share the payment, you will get the same library, only in better quality and instead of 199 CZK you will pay 129,50 CZK. If you go for the highest Premium tariff, it can be watched on up to four devices at the same time, so you can share it with up to three other users. Using clear mathematics, it follows that you will pay CZK 79,85 per month per head. You will not only get 4K quality, but also other benefits from a Premium account.

Keep track of your content
Each platform offers different original content. HBO Max has currently started airing the hit Dragon Rod, i.e. the series preceding the events of Game of Thrones. On the other hand, Disney+ scores again with the offer of Marvel series, as well as Star Wars, etc. Netflix has, for example, Stranger Things, Paper House and the rest. Don't be afraid to cancel your subscription
If you're currently busy and don't have time to watch Netflix, or if it just doesn't offer anything you want to watch right now, feel free to cancel your subscription. If you renew within 10 months, you won't lose any of your watch and referral history. The platform keeps all your data stored for 10 months, after which your account will be deactivated and deleted after this limit is exceeded. So when you cancel your subscription, you can renew it just as easily afterwards.
