Samsung started for the series Galaxy S22 to release the second beta version of the One UI 5.0 superstructure. What does it bring?

Samsung divides the changelog of the latest One UI 5.0 beta into three sections: New features, Bug fixes, and Known issues. In terms of bug fixes, the beta fixes issues with the home screen, auto-rotate screen, shared links, S Pen, touch sensitivity, or taking screenshots.

The update also fixes a bug that prevented users of the first One UI 5.0 beta from copying and forwarding content in the Samsung Messages app. And last but not least, it fixes an issue that prevented users from unlocking their phones using lock screen patterns.

As for new features, the second beta brings a smart widget that can suggest useful applications or functions, or Maintenance Mode, which users can activate whenever they need to send their phone in for repair. This mode restricts access to personal data including messages, photos or accounts. Also new is the Privacy Detection feature, thanks to which the sharing panel will notify the user whenever they try to share sensitive images informace, such as identity cards, passports or payment cards.

The latest news is the improved Bixby Routines. These have been specifically improved with the new Life Style mode, which divides the app's home screen into two main categories, namely Modes and Routines. The first one mentioned allows users to automatically change their phone settings according to their current activity or situation.

No beta firmware is perfect, and the second One UI 5.0 beta is no exception. Fortunately, Samsung mentions two known bugs in the changelog, both related to the Samsung Wallet app. It is also possible to avoid them. First, users who don't update the Samsung Wallet app before using the new beta version may find that it has been removed. In that case, they will have to reinstall it manually. And secondly, users may have a problem with the app's digital keys functionality and may need to delete and re-register them. In the new beta version - as in any - there may of course be other, as yet undiscovered bugs. If so, Samsung will most likely fix them in the next beta. A stable version of One UI 5.0 is expected in the fall.
