Google's first foldable smartphone Pixel Fold (unofficial reports also refer to it as Pixel Notepad) could have a uniquely designed front camera. This is indicated by a patent registered with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) published last week.

The patent, which Google filed with WIPO back in June of last year, shows a design similar to the range's models Galaxy From the Fold. The pictured device folds in half like a laptop, but the bezels around the display appear to be unusually thick. Like most devices with this design, the Pixel Fold will have a crease in the middle that is hard to avoid.

The patent also suggests that the device will have a selfie camera located in the top bezel. The main reason why Google chose this design for the front camera could be the not entirely convincing results of the sub-display camera, which last year and this year have Galaxy From the Fold. The camera will reportedly have a resolution of 8 MPx (the one under the display in the mentioned Samsung devices is only 4 megapixels). A positive side effect of this design is the absence of even a hint of a cutout in the display.

The Pixel Fold should also have an external display, but the patent does not show its design. It is likely that it will have a more traditional front camera design. According to unofficial information, the first Google puzzle will get a 7,6-inch internal display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 5,8-inch external display, a new generation of proprietary Tensor chip and a dual rear camera with a resolution of 12,2 and 12 MPx. It will reportedly be launched in the spring of next year (it was originally thought that it would arrive this year).
