As you probably know, Samsung's new smart watch Galaxy Watch5 to Watch5 Pro as his first ever watch, boasts a body temperature sensor. Unfortunately, the sensor doesn't seem to be serving its purpose yet.

Across the line Galaxy Watch4 is a new generation Galaxy Watch a few steps ahead. It has a BioActive sensor that can perform more accurate ECG and blood pressure measurements, if you live in parts of the world where these features are available. If not, Galaxy Watch5 don't offer much more in the way of health monitoring than their predecessors. However, there is a chance that this could change in the near future.

The main attraction in the field of health monitoring was to be in the range Galaxy Watch5 is precisely the sensor enabling the measurement of body temperature. Before it was introduced, there was speculation that it might not be available until the next generation Galaxy Watch, finally him Galaxy Watch5 to Watch5 Pro really got into the wine, but at the moment it does not serve the proclaimed purpose, but only for monitoring sleep. There's no way to activate it as a heart rate monitor or head into the Samsung Health app to track your temperature throughout the day.

The reason why the sensor is currently not a temperature sensor, as Samsung talks about it, is most likely because it does not yet have the approval of the relevant regulators in different countries for this use. And apparently it will not be easy to get it, because for example in the USA Galaxy Watch5 cannot yet monitor blood pressure due to lack of certification. Being able to capture body temperature data at any time is perhaps even more sensitive than blood pressure monitoring, and Samsung may have to fight hard for permission. However, we are confident that it can handle it and that it is only a matter of time before the sensor serves its original purpose. After all, the Korean giant would not be tempted by a new sensor if it knew that it would not get approval for its use afterwards.
