Galaxy Buds2 Pro may have been on the August one Galaxy Unpacked is the fourth in a row, but it rightfully belongs to the best that you can find in the segment of TWS headphones. The company improved everything it could, and also made the headphones smaller. Now they really fit in every ear. Yes, even yours.

The problem with all headphones that are plug construction, is simply that wearing them will start to hurt your ear after a while. Sometimes it happens sooner, sometimes longer. First Galaxy The Buds Pro were no exception. Although Samsung came up with its original concept of design, which in no way copied Apple's AirPods, but due to the shape, it clearly caused ear fatigue.

Small but long lasting

It's a very subjective thing, because everyone's ears are different and everyone's preferences are different. After all, this is also why you will find three different sizes of silicone attachments in the package. You have the middle sizes on the headphones because Samsung assumes they will fit the largest number of users. The others are hidden by the USB-C cable and only in the paper packaging, which unfortunately you only open once and then it goes to the trash. You then decide where to hide them so you don't lose them. But it's true that once you find the perfect size, you'll probably never need the others.

Changing the attachments is also very simple, because you just have to pull it. By simply pressing the pin, you can seat another one. Galaxy Buds2 Pro are 15% smaller than the first generation, and this is their main advantage. If the headphones don't fit in your ear, it doesn't really matter how they play, because you can't use them anyway. 15 percent is not a lot, but in the end it is noticeable. It fits even an atypical ear, i.e. mine, which, for example, cannot use AirPods Pro for more than an hour. You can easily manage half a day here, or at least as long as their battery will allow you.

Numbers speak: the headphones have a 61mAh battery and a 515mAh charging case. This means that the headphones can easily handle 5 hours of music playback with ANC on, i.e. active noise cancellation, or up to 8 hours without it - i.e. easily the entire working time. With the charging case we get to values of 18 and 29 hours. Calls are more demanding, i.e. 3,5 h in the first case and 4 hours in the second. I can't judge it for calls, but in the case of music, the headphones really achieve the stated values during combined listening. Just for comparison, let's say that AirPods Pro manage 4,5 hours with ANC and 5 hours without it. After all, Samsung has worked a lot on ANC and it shows in the result. Finally, it is comparable to that of AirPods Pro.

Oh the gestures

Enthusiasm needs to be moderated. You control the headphones with gestures, which is nothing new, as it was also the case with the previous generation and other models. It is here that the genius of Apple shows itself in its design with a foot. This is not only a design element, but also offers space for controllers. Sensory buttons may be more tedious to manipulate in the case of quick interaction, but you won't feel them here, especially in your ear.

Gestures Galaxy Buds2 Pro are cleverly thought out but poorly executed. Rather than tap my ear, which really hurts, I always prefer to reach for my phone and adjust/set everything on it. Of course, not everyone has it, but control Galaxy Buds just isn't ideal. On the other hand, it's true that thanks to the design of the headphones, they didn't fall out of my ears, which happens to me with AirPods.

HiFi and 360 degree sound

I don't have the best hearing in the world, I'd even say I'm quite musically deaf and suffer from tinnitus. However, in a direct comparison, for example, with AirPods Pro, I do not notice a difference in the quality of the presentation if you are in a normal and not busy environment. Samsung gave its new 24-bit sound and OK, it's probably nice to mention it, but if you can hear the quality, let us know in the comments. Unfortunately, I don't appreciate it. Samsung literally states that: "Thanks to the special SSC HiFi codec, music is transmitted in maximum quality without dropouts, the new coaxial two-band diaphragms are a guarantee of natural and rich sound." I have no choice but to believe him.

What is different, of course, is the 360-degree sound. You can already hear it with the appropriate content, but subjectively it seems to me to be a bit stronger with the competition presented by Apple's solution. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.3 support, you can be sure of an ideal connection to the source, typically a phone. Of course, IPX7 protection is provided, so some sweat or rain doesn't bother the headphones. The headphones also now feature the Auto Switch function, which enables easy connection to the TV (for models released from February 2022). As the manufacturer himself states, and it is necessary to give him the truth, a trio of microphones with a highly functional signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and Ambient sound technology will not stand in the way of your conversation - not even the wind.

Galaxy Wearable can do more

Samsung also worked on its own application for operating the headphones. In it, of course, you can set everything the headphones can do, as well as add a widget to your desktop with a quick overview of the battery or ANC switching. But now it finally offers the possibility of an equalizer, for which it was necessary to use third-party solutions until now. Of course, you can also activate the function here Neck Stretch Reminder, which we covered in a separate article. Then there is an offer Labs enabling interesting expansion options, such as turning on the volume control pRome on headphones. And if you happen to forget your Buds2 Pro headphones somewhere, the app SmartThingsFind it will find them for you even if they are not in the charging case.

They have been on sale in the Czech Republic since August 26, and their recommended retail price is CZK 5. Although it is the most expensive Galaxy Buds, but also for the best. So you practically can't get anything better from Samsung, which is clearly in favor of buying them. But if you don't need all the listed features, of course there are cheaper options in the case of headphones Galaxy buds2, Galaxy Buds Live or the discounted first generation Pro version. The novelty is available in three color variants – graphite, white and purple. The matte finish of the headphones is very pleasing and is also what makes them stand out at first sight. It is simply impossible to recommend them.
