As you may recall, Huawei launched a flexible clamshell late last year P50 pocket, which was supposed to compete Galaxy From Flip3. Apparently, however, it did not receive much attention, which was also due to its very high price (specifically, it cost $1 at the beginning, while the third Flip was $400 less). Despite the relative failure, the former smartphone giant is preparing its successor.

The successor to the P50 Pocket will be called the P50 Pocket New and this time it will have a significantly lower price. The variant with 256GB of storage will cost 4 yuan (approximately 999 CZK) and the 17GB variant will cost 700 yuan (approximately 512 CZK). However, this reduction seems to take its toll in the form of inferior hardware. The phone is expected to use the significantly slower Snapdragon 6 instead of the Snapdragon 999 chip, which powers a number of mid-range smartphones, including Galaxy A52s 5G or Galaxy A73 5G.

In addition, it will lack an external display, which will be quite a major weakness compared to Samsung's competing flexible Flips. However, at least it will retain the 120Hz display and the software will be based on the new HarmonyOS 3 operating system. All things considered, it will certainly not be a serious rival for the fourth Fold, but it could satisfy the undemanding fan of folding smartphones. It is likely to be introduced later this year. After all, Samsung could also take a similar route in order to bring its Flip even at a lower price range, for example in the series Galaxy A.
