Russian media cited by Reuters claim that Samsung is considering resuming shipments of its smartphones to the country. The Korean giant stopped supplying smartphones, chips and other products to Russia in March due to the war in Ukraine, but that could soon change.

According to the agency Reuters, citing an unnamed source in the Russian daily Izvestiya, Samsung is considering resuming smartphone deliveries to partner retailers and restarting its official online store in October. The company rejected these, according to the newspaper informace comment.

After Samsung suspended its shipments to Russia, the country launched a program that allows goods to be imported without the consent of the respective trademark owners. Even so, smartphones from the Korean giant were practically nowhere to be found in the country during the summer finding.

Before Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Samsung had a share of around 30% of the Russian smartphone market, leading rivals such as Apple and Xiaomi. However, smartphone demand in the country fell 30% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter to a ten-year low. It will probably take some time to recover. Time will tell if this report is based on truth. If so, it will be interesting to see if other manufacturers follow Samsung in October.
