Apart from the classic 6,1" iPhone 14, we also received the currently highest model of the range, i.e. 6,7" iPhone 14Pro Max. Apple he introduced his new products in September, and they now stand directly against the line Galaxy S22, which has the disadvantage that Samsung introduced it already in February. One of the main features of smartphones is of course their camera. So take a look at how Apple's current leader takes photos.

Apple forge a special path. It constantly and continuously enlarges the individual sensors, which is of course good, but with this in mind, it also enlarges the lenses, which is not so good anymore, because they are more and more coming out of our bodies. It's certainly nice to get some nickname of the best photomobile, but at what cost? The 12 mm that the device has in the area of the lens for its thickness is really a lot. And indeed, the entire system also catches a lot of dirt. We don't say it's Samsung for the model Galaxy He invented the S22 Ultra in a world-shaking way, but he definitely did better. It is best in the basic series, when the entire module with lenses is aligned.

48 MPx only about half

Apple this year it took a big step when, after many years, it dropped the main camera from 12 MPx and its resolution jumped to 48 MPx. There is, of course, a stacking of pixels, i.e. four in particular, which results in a 12MP photo in normal photography. If you want the full 48 MPx, it's a bit of a problem. In the Camera settings, you have to turn on ProRAW and shoot 48 MPx photos to a DNG file. Of course, such photos contain a lot of raw data, and it is not a problem for such a picture to be over 100 MB. This is it Apple it completely killed such a photo for the average user also because subsequent post-production is necessary, and they will still be dependent only on the resulting 12 MPx.

Of course, pixel stacking has an impact on the final photo, which helps especially in low light conditions. Apple however, the device has also added a certain Photonic Engine that should enhance everything you do with the device's cameras. The company specifically states that the device takes up to 3x better photos with the ultra-wide angle and 2x better photos with the main and tele lenses in low light. It is important to emphasize the low light, so these are not night photos.

Apple added the possibility of double zoom to the Pro models. It is therefore not an optical zoom, but a digital one, which is made from the original 48 MPx. But it is suitable for portraits where 1x is too close and 3x is already too far. However, since this is a digital zoom, it should be used with caution. That extra step isn't so much that you degrade photo quality at the expense of the sensor's full potential.

Even with regard to the already mentioned massive module, it is a little incomprehensible that Apple he has not yet given way to a periscope and a greater approach. Its telephoto lens is nothing short of a miracle, and it really doesn't work well in low-light conditions. It doesn't have to be 10x zoom right away, but 5x would definitely be nice. Apple he shouldn't be so afraid and should start showing a bit of that invention. This also applies to the ultra-wide-angle lens. He is still quite the same miserable when he still likes to wipe the sides.

The photos from the iPhone 14 Pro Max are great, yes, and in the rankings this phone model will definitely attack the highest levels. However, I might have expected something more. Chopping off the 48 MPx photo options is a huge shame, we have practically not made any progress with the night photo, and the normal daily user will not know the difference compared to last year's generation.
