And here's another Saturday window from the category of Samsung oddities. Food distribution company Samsung Welstory is said to be ready to roll out a fully autonomous distribution solution for anything. The company has partnered with South Korean software company Neubility, and the first pilot operation will take place on the country's golf courses, where they are jointly introducing a self-driving robot called Neubie.

By introducing smart technology to golf courses, the companies hope to attract young golf enthusiasts and make the sport more attractive to a wider audience. Neubility tested the Neubie self-driving robot back in March of this year and found that the autonomous four-wheeled delivery "vehicle" can navigate a variety of terrains, from narrow or curved roads to steep slopes.

Samsung Welstory and Neubility expect to begin commercial sales of their robot in October. Neubility then reportedly plans to deliver more than 200 of these delivery robots to the market by the end of the year, but the exact number of those that Samsung will "employ" on golf courses is unknown. However, Neubie itself has several use cases, and after the first batch is commercialized, the robot could find new roles in retail and corporate environments.

As for the appearance of the Neubie robot, it is similar to an overgrown backpack with wheels and LED "eyes" that can have different expressions. It doesn't look threatening, and that was probably the intention. Watch the video above as it shows how these little robots roam and navigate the world.
