A clear sign that Google's investment in its Pixel Watch benefiting the entire ecosystem is the new Weather app for all watches Wear OS 3 and later. So we, the owners, will also benefit from it Galaxy Watch4 to Watch5.

Today, Google launched an app simply named Weather on Google Play. It's free and follows the latest Material You design pro guidelines Wear OS, so it has a simple information layout that is standard on wearable platforms these days. However, the app only shows the weather for your current location, with the city you're in listed at the top.

Apart from the current temperature, there is also an indicator for the highest and lowest, as well as the current UV index and possible precipitation. But here you will also find the forecast for the next 8 hours and the next 5 days. At the very bottom you can change the units and see that informace are drawn from the weather.com server, when Google also uses them in the pro application Android, its widgets, Google search and smart displays. Two complications have also been added, which you can put directly on the dial. These are the UV index and the current temperature.

When you open the app for the first time after installing it, you need to grant it the "Always Allow" location permission. Google's new Weather app for Wear OS 3 is by no means comprehensive and could certainly bring more information, including from more cities, but it's pretty good and of course there's plenty of room for incremental improvements. Google also provides a rather terse description of the application: “Plan your day with accurate hourly and weekly forecasts from the new Weather app. Track temperatures, UV index and precipitation in your area. You can quickly jump to an app using the tile, and you can add it to your watch face as a complication. It is compatible with all watches with the system Wear OS 3.0 and later."
