The latest update to the Samsung Health app brings theme icon support to the system Android 13, and also brings support for Google's Health Connect tool. Although the application is already technically a thematic icon in the system Android 12 has, but it is powered by Samsung's launcher, i.e. One UI, not the application itself. There will now be a themed icon for Samsung Health on both Samsung devices with the system Android 12 or Android 13, for example in Pixel phones.

In addition, the new update unlocks Samsung Health support for the Google Health Connect initiative. It's a service that Google first announced earlier this year as a way to move health and fitness data between different apps and services. The intention was to be able to move data from, for example, a Withings scale to the Samsung Health application, or steps from a Samsung application to, for example, the Google Fit title. It should be a fairly useful service once it's up and running.

However, only a handful of apps have added Health Connect support so far, including Withings Health Mate and Sleep as Android. So now the Samsung Health app also adds support for Health Connect, which even shows a menu for this service within its own settings menu. While you can't get your hands on the feature just yet, it's clear that an official launch is likely just around the corner.
