Google officially a few days ago introduced the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones. The latter is supposed to compete with the most high-end flagships of today, including Galaxy S22Ultra. Let's take a closer look to see if it can really play in the same league as Samsung's current flagship.

Pixel 7 Pro and Galaxy The S22 Ultra have comparable displays. For the Pixel 7 Pro, its size is 6,7 inches, which is 0,1 inch smaller than the competitor's. Both have the same resolution (1440p) and refresh rate (120 Hz). Galaxy However, the S22 Ultra boasts a higher maximum brightness of 1750 nits (vs. 1500).

The Pixel 7 Pro is powered by the Tensor G2 chipset, while Galaxy The S22 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and the Exynos 2200. We don't know at this point how the next-gen Tensor performs against the aforementioned competing chips, as the new Pixels won't go on sale until October 13. However, considering the first generation, we can assume that it will be a bit slower. Google's new flagship basically offers a higher RAM capacity (12 vs. 8 GB), but has fewer internal memory size options (128, 256, and 512 GB vs. 128, 256, 512 GB, and 1 TB).

As for the camera, most people probably know by now that the software and artificial intelligence driving modern smartphone cameras can make a big difference, so comparisons based strictly on specs may not be entirely accurate in this area. Anyway, the Pixel 7 Pro offers a triple camera with a resolution of 50, 12 and 48 MPx, while the main one has an aperture of f/1.9 lens and optical image stabilization, the second is a "wide-angle" and the third telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and optical image stabilization.

Galaxy Of course, the S22 Ultra wins in this area "on paper", offering one more sensor, higher resolution and better zoom levels. Specifically, it has a 108MPx main camera with f/1.8 lens aperture and optical image stabilization, a 10MPx periscope telephoto lens with 10x optical zoom, a 10MPx standard lens with 3x zoom (both have optical image stabilization) and a 12MPx ultra-wide-angle lens.

Finally, the Pixel 7 Pro is fueled by a 5000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging support, while the Galaxy The S22 Ultra's same-sized battery supports 45W fast charging. Neither phone comes with a charger.

As you might expect, the Pixel 7 Pro is cheaper than the Galaxy The S22 Ultra, on the other hand, has significantly more limited availability. In the US, its price will start at 899 dollars (about 22 CZK), while Galaxy The S22 Ultra is sold here from $1 (roughly CZK 200; in our country, Samsung sells it for CZK 30).

It is also worth noting that Galaxy The S22 Ultra has several trumps up its sleeve compared to its rival. The first is S Pen support and the second is longer software support. It might surprise you, but the Pixel 7 Pro will get one upgrade in the future Androidfor less, i.e. three. In conclusion, it can be stated that even though both phones belong to the same market segment, they are different enough not to "step on each other's cabbages". It is a better phone in terms of specifications Galaxy The S22 Ultra and as a bonus offers a stylus, on the other hand the Pixel 7 Pro is not far behind it in terms of hardware and will be sold significantly cheaper. This comparison does not have a clear winner.
