The Samsung Developer Conference 2022 kicked off this week, where the company annually unveils its new software features and system updates. During the event, it announced that it will make it easier for developers to design better healthcare services using data from devices Galaxy Watch. And that's good news.

The South Korean firm launched the Samsung Privileged Health SDK and fall detection API, along with a health research solution for educational and clinical programmers. TaeJong Jay Yang, executive vice president and head of the health R&D team at Samsung Electronics' Mobile eXperience division, said: "I'm excited to announce the expansion of developer tools, APIs, and partner offerings that enable third-party experts, research centers, and universities to develop wearable tracking and intelligence capabilities for broader health, wellness, and safety."

As part of the Samsung Privileged Health SDK program, the company collaborates with selected industry leaders and brings new preventive tools through data from their devices Galaxy Watch. For example, real-time heart rate data from the device Galaxy Watch can be used with Tobii's eye tracking technology to monitor the user's sleepiness and prevent traffic accidents. Similarly, the recently introduced automotive solution Ready can Care from Harman to help drivers with safety by being able to use fatigue data to offer alternative routes to reduce driver stress levels. It may sound like science fiction, but if it actually works, it could indirectly save lives.

Samsung also introduced a new API for fall detection, which we already know from Google or Apple, and is actually just catching up with its competition. Developers can design apps that can detect a user tripping or falling and call for help. With the transition to the platform Wear OS 3 for its new smart watch, Samsung also designed the Health Connect system in cooperation with Google. Currently in beta, it offers a centralized way to securely transfer health and fitness data from one brand platform to another. So there's something to look forward to and you can believe that Galaxy Watch they will be an even more comprehensive gauge of our health in the future, just as they will take care of our safety. And that's what we want from them the most, besides tracking activities and delivering notifications from the phone.
