Every new Samsung smartphone, whether it's a budget model or a super-expensive flagship, comes with new wallpapers. It's one of the ways the Korean giant differentiates the new phones from the existing ones. But as you may have noticed, Samsung's default wallpapers are quite boring and similar to those available before, especially on flagship models. Samsung also tends to only provide a limited number of wallpapers on each device, with some only working on the lock screen. Fortunately, One UI 5.0 seems to be fixing the wallpaper situation.

As revealed by the One UI 5.0 beta running on the series phones Galaxy S22 and other smartphones Galaxy, there are now significantly more pre-installed wallpapers to choose from. In addition, Samsung now divides them into two categories, namely Graphical and Colors. These are part of the new lock screen customization that the Korean giant has introduced in the new build, taking inspiration from its Good Lock app. So now it is possible to use multiple wallpapers on both home and lock screen.

While these new backgrounds aren't exactly top-notch and will likely appeal mainly to younger users, they're a visible improvement over the past. Many users will also like the fact that it is possible to choose a random color as wallpaper. This can be done directly from the wallpaper selection screen, eliminating the need to download images from the Internet or store Galaxy Store.

In the Graphical section, however, there are only a few pre-installed wallpapers compared to the Colors category. So we can hope that Samsung will add more in the future. Likewise, we hope that these new wallpapers will not be limited to flagship models and that Samsung will make them a standard part of One UI regardless of the device used.
