After three years of launching series phones Galaxy With the nickname Ultra with 108MPx cameras, Samsung is finally ready to switch to a 200MPx camera in the model Galaxy S23 Ultra. Samsung has produced several such sensors, one of which has already been used by competing manufacturers such as Xiaomi, so it is easy for it to use this solution in its own portfolio.

As is the 108MPx camera Galaxy S21 Ultra or Galaxy Neither the S22 Ultra nor the S23 Ultra will actually take photos at the maximum possible resolution by default. It will reportedly take 12,5MP images with pixel binning (a process in which multiple small pixels are combined into one large one) to improve image quality, especially in low-light conditions. Undoubtedly, the option to take photos in full 200MPx resolution will also be available, but according to new leaker rumors Ice Universe Samsung unlike its competition will not offer the ability to take 50MPx pictures, and that is a clear shame.

If 200 MPx combines 16 pixels into one to produce a final 12,5 MPx photo, it may indeed be too much. For a 50 MPx photo, four pixels would be merged, and such a photo would still have a lot of detail with digital zoom and would still not be so data-intensive. For example, when shooting in 108 MPx mode on the device Galaxy The S22 Ultra stores images that take up to 5 times more space than the 12MP ones, so you can imagine how big those 200MP images will be in a presentation Galaxy S23 Ultra.

A medium-sized 50MPx mode would offer a great balance between image quality and file size. After all, companies like Motorola and Xiaomi will just give you 50MPx on their phones, Samsung allegedly won't. And while regular customers probably won't care, the more tech-savvy ones might informace about the capabilities of the S23 Ultra model, she may not have liked it.

It's just marketing

Of course, it is necessary to mention that all information leaks should be taken with a grain of salt and cannot be relied upon in any way. For now, we can only cross our fingers that Galaxy The S23 Ultra blew away the competition when it came to the results produced by its cameras, and provided a really good reason for the presence of said 200MPx camera instead of just trying to capitalize on the high numbers on the spec sheet.

Of course, these high numbers present themselves well, but whether they are justified is another matter. Pixel merging has shown that it has its place in mobile phones, which is why after many years it was adopted by i Apple in iPhone 14 Pro models. On the other hand, even his iPhone 13 Pro performs more than well even among 50 and more MPx cameras, because in DXOMark 6th place still belongs to them. It cannot be said unequivocally that the path of fewer but larger pixels was downright bad.
