Samsung introduced a virtual memory feature called RAM Plus in the range Galaxy S21 in early 2021 and then ported it to many other flagships and mid-range devices. RAM Plus uses part of the internal storage as virtual memory, expanding the amount of available RAM to hold more applications. But it also brings controversy.

When the feature was first introduced, it didn't give you any choice about how much storage space you dedicate to it. Samsung changed this in One UI 4.1, while also adding an option to disable RAM Plus entirely in One UI 5.0. While this is an interesting feature, most people won't notice that it makes any difference, it just cuts into their physical storage space.

Even so, the feature is turned on by default on all devices that support it, and it usually takes 4GB of storage space, which then serves as additional virtual memory. However, they also began to appear across the Internet informace, that the function paradoxically slows down the device, and after the unofficial procedure of turning it off, the device revived considerably for users. Perhaps this is also why Samsung allows the function to be deactivated in One UI 5.0 in a relatively simple way.

Disable RAM Plus

You have to open Settings phone or tablet, go to the section Battery and device care, tap an item Memory and select an option below RAMPlus. Here, just use the switch in the upper right corner of the screen to disable this function. In the same menu, you can also choose how much internal storage will be used as virtual memory, but at least on flagship phones and tablets, we don't think there's any extra benefit from having RAM Plus turned on.

Now, of course, the option to turn it off is only available on the trio of phones in the series Galaxy S, i.e. S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra, for which Samsung released Android 13 with One UI 5.0 superstructure. So, this new product is only being prepared for other models. But once they are updated, you will be able to turn off RAM Plus on them as well.
