Samsung said this spring that it fully supports the new Matter smart home standard and promised its integration with its SmartThings platform soon. During this year's SDC (Samsung Developer Conference), which took place two weeks ago, the company said that the platform will receive support for the standard before the end of the year. Now the Korean giant has announced that it has just happened.

Standard Matter supports the latest version of SmartThings pro Android. Through it, users can control smart home devices that are compatible with this standard. The second and third generation of central units for the smart home SmartThings Hub and Aeotec Smart Home Hub will receive support for the standard via OTA update. Selected Samsung refrigerators with touchscreens and smart TVs will work as SmartThings Hub central units supporting the standard.

SmartThings uses Matter's Multi-Admin feature for full integration with the Google Home platform. This means that both smart home ecosystems are fully compatible with each other. When a user adds a smart home device to one platform, it also appears in the other app when it's open.

Samsung is one of the first members of CSA (Connectivity Standards Alliance), which is responsible for developing and promoting the Matter standard. In addition to him and Google, its members include other technological giants such as Apple, ARM, MediaTek, Qualcomm, Intel, Amazon, LG, Logitech, TCL, Xiaomi, Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Zigbee or Toshiba.
