We've known since last month that Samsung is developing a new wireless charger pad, which will probably be introduced along with the series Galaxy S23 early next year. Bluetooth certification has now revealed its name, which implies that it should have the functionality of the SmartThings smart home platform.

According to the Bluetooth certification published these days, Samsung's next charging pad will be called SmartThings Station. It was previously known only under the model designation EP-P9500. The certification did not reveal much about the charger, practically only that it will support the Bluetooth 5.2 standard. Anyway, this means that it will be more than just a simple charging pad for smartphones and watches Galaxy.

What SmartThings platform features the charger will have, we can only speculate at this point. However, it could, for example, allow users to monitor the charging status of their devices Galaxy through the SmartThings application or remotely control the charger - turn it on or off or set other parameters. Either way, it should be introduced along with the series Galaxy S23 in January or February next year.

Recently, Samsung has been focusing more and more on SmartThings and wants to make it the preferred platform for the smart home. At this year's recently concluded SDC (Samsung Developer Conference) it announced integration with a new standard for the smart home Matter and better interoperability with the Google Home platform. In addition, it also added even more SmartThings tools to the new one application Modes and routines within the superstructure One UI 5.0.
