After testing the new version of its internet browser (19.0) on its beta channel for several months, Samsung has now started releasing it in select markets. The new update brings improved widgets and a wide range of new security and privacy features.

The changelog for the latest version of Samsung Internet mentions three new features. They are the following:

  • The Privacy info function, which is available on every website by clicking on the lock icon in the address bar.
  • Browser widget users can now check their recent search history using the improved widgets.
  • Add-ons are now available when using the browser in "incognito mode". In order to use them in this mode, users must turn on the "Allow in Secret Mode" feature for each individual add-on.

In addition to the above, Samsung Internet is also improving security and privacy through the following changes and additions:

  • Smart Anti-Tracking can now intelligently detect domains using cross-site tracking. The tool can now block access to cookies.
  • Users will receive a warning when they try to access known malicious sites.
  • Samsung Internet now allows third-party apps to offer filters to block content.

The changelog does not mention cross-platform bookmark synchronization with Chrome, which was available in beta. It is not clear at this time if it has been removed from the public version or not. Samsung Internet 19 is currently available in selected markets and should gradually expand to others in the coming days.
