Samsung seems to have botched the release of a new firmware update for the watch Galaxy Watch4 to Watch4 Classic. According to a number of complaints from different countries, the update makes it completely impossible for them to function.

More specifically, affected users report that after the on Galaxy Watch4 or Watch4 Classic applied an update carrying the firmware version R8xxXXU1GVI3 and left the watch turned off, it never started again. Given this type of behavior, it appears that this is an issue that cannot be fixed with another firmware update – unless the user can leave the watch powered on until the update is released. Once however Galaxy Watch4 running on the mentioned firmware shut down, it seems to be over for good.

It is not clear at this time if this is happening to everyone Galaxy Watch4 once it receives an update labeled GVI3. Samsung community forums in South Korea and several other countries as well as a social network Reddit however, is currently filled with complaints that confirm that quite a few users have been affected by this problem.

If you are on your own Galaxy Watch4 to Watch4 Classic have encountered this problem, we recommend that you contact Samsung Customer Support. It should be possible to exchange them. And of course, if you haven't installed the mentioned update on them yet, don't do so. The Korean giant has not yet commented on the matter. Hopefully they will do so in the coming days.
