Last year, the globally popular video platform YouTube announced that the number of its subscribers had reached 50 million. Now, she boasted, that number has increased to 80 million over the past year.

The current 80 million includes YouTube Music and Premium subscribers worldwide, as well as "trial" subscriptions. The increase was 2020 million between 2021 and 20, so the 30 million jump between 2021 and 2022 is significant. According to YouTube, the achievement of this milestone is due to the said services "putting fans first".

As for YouTube Music, more than 100 million official tracks, along with an extensive catalog of live performances and remixes, are said to contribute to its success. As for YouTube Premium, the platform sees success in the benefits the service offers, including "making it even easier for fans to enjoy every music format: long music videos, short videos, live streams, podcasts and more." The platform also said that its partners were heavily involved in achieving this milestone, specifically naming Samsung, SoftBank (Japan), Vodafone (Europe) and LG U+ (South Korea). She also mentioned Google services like Google One.

While 80 million YouTube Music and Premium subscribers is undoubtedly a nice number, the main competitors Spotify and Apple Music is ahead. The former boasts 188 million paying users and the latter 88 million.
