Demand for smartphones in Europe is falling, but Samsung maintained its lead in the third quarter of this year despite losses. Smartphone shipments fell 16% year-on-year to just over 40 million in the period. The company informed about it Counterpoint Research.

Samsung's share of the European smartphone market fell two percentage points year-on-year to 2022% in July-September 33, shipping 13,5 million smartphones. Second in the order was the Chinese giant Xiaomi, whose share increased by five percentage points year-on-year to 23% and which shipped 9,1 million smartphones. He finished third Apple, whose share increased by one percentage point year-on-year to 21% and which delivered 8,5 million smartphones to the market.

Fourth place was occupied by Realme, whose share increased by three percentage points year-on-year to 5% and which shipped 2,2 million smartphones. Oppo completes the top five largest European smartphone players with a 4% share (down four percentage points year-on-year) and 1,5 million phones shipped. In total, 40,5 million smartphones were delivered to the European market in the period in question.

Counterpoint noted that Apple could have done better, but that supply issues in China caused by covid lockdowns delayed the launch of the iPhone 14 in Europe. The Cupertino-based smartphone giant's sales fell against expectations as some shipments moved to the last quarter of this year.
