Last week, Qualcomm unveiled its new flagship chipset Snapdragon 8 Gen2, but Samsung was mysteriously absent from its list of official partners. She later appeared on the air informace, that the Korean giant would in its next flagship line Galaxy S23 could use a special version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a higher clock speed. Now it looks like the series will also use a higher clocked graphics chip.

The standard version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has a high-performance Cortex-X3 processor core with a frequency of 3,19 GHz, four powerful Cortex-A715 cores with a frequency of 2,8 GHz, three economical cores with a frequency of 2 GHz and an Adreno 740 graphics chip with a frequency of 680 MHz . According to the now legendary leaker Ice universe there will be a turn Galaxy The S23 uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 variant (SM8550-AC) with the main core clocked at 3,36 GHz and the GPU running at 719 MHz. However, to "tame" such an overclocked chipset, Samsung will have to use a suitable cooling mechanism.

From time to time, Qualcomm releases higher-clocked versions of its flagship chipsets with model designations ending in the letters AC. For example, the Snapdragon 855 had the model number SM8150, while the Snapdragon 855+ with a higher main core clock was labeled SM8150-AC. At the moment, it is not clear what the higher-clocked version of Qualcomm's new chipset will be called, whether Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Pro or something else.

About the standard Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Qualcomm claims that it has a 8% faster processor unit and a 1% more powerful graphics chip compared to the Snapdragon 35 Gen 25. More importantly, however, the processor giant focused on improving the power efficiency of the new chipset, as its chips from the last two generations tended to overheat and throttle performance under sustained load.
