A recent study by Nordpass, a password management solution company, found that the Samsung password, or rather "samsung", was one of the most used passwords in at least three dozen countries last year. This threatens the security of millions of users worldwide.

The use of the password "samsung" has been increasing in popularity in recent years. While it was ranked 2019th in 198, a year later it improved by nine places and jumped into the top 78 last year - to XNUMXth place.

The most used password last year was again "password", which was allegedly chosen by almost 5 million users. Other common passwords were "permanent" such as "123456", "123456789" or "guest". In addition to Samsung, global brands such as Nike, Adidas or Tiffany are also popular in the world of passwords.

Whether people use the password "Samsung" with an uppercase or lowercase S doesn't seem to make much of a difference in terms of security. In its new study, Nordpass states that a simple and predictable password can be decrypted in less than a second. Decrypting a 7-digit password combining lower and uppercase letters with numbers can take around 8 seconds, while an XNUMX-digit password takes about XNUMX minutes. Since most of the most commonly used passwords are short and consist of only numbers or lowercase letters, they can be "cracked" in less than a second, according to the study.

In other words: you should not use "Samsung" or "samsung" or similar weak passwords when creating a new account, be it Samsung Members or any other. According to experts, an ideal password should have at least eight characters, contain both uppercase and lowercase letters, at least one number and a character on top. And now for the heart: do these meet your passwords?
