Corning has introduced its latest mobile protective glass, Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The new solution has been designed to offer higher drop resistance than the previous generation while maintaining the scratch resistance of Gorilla Glass Victus.
More specifically, Corning focused on improving the resistance of its glass to drops on certain rough surfaces, such as concrete. This was particularly important as concrete is the most widely used engineering material in the world.
Corning claims its new Gorilla Glass Victus 2 solution can survive a drop of up to 1 meter onto concrete and similar surfaces, and up to two meters onto surfaces such as asphalt. Most other solutions fail when dropped from a height of half a meter or less. However, the company didn't want to sacrifice scratch resistance for drop resistance – it says Gorilla Glass Victus 2 maintains the durability of previous generations of Victus glass in this regard.
Corning also says that 84% of consumers in the world's largest smartphone markets, which are China, India and the US, consider durability to be the most important factor when buying a new phone. Which is understandable given today's smartphone prices and the simple fact that consumers are doing a lot more on their phones today than they were a decade ago. This is also why Samsung insists on using highly durable materials such as Armor Aluminum for many smartphone and tablet components.
At the moment, it is not clear if the Korean giant will use Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on some of the upcoming devices or which smartphones will use the new glass first. However, it is conceivable that many will have it Galaxy S23, or at least its highest model S23Ultra. Or Samsung will decide that it will be enough to reuse the Gorilla Glass Victus+ that protects the displays of the series phones Galaxy S22. Let us be surprised.
Samsung is lying!!! I have a terrible experience with the Ultra S23. I bought it on pre-sale and after 1 day of dragging private data into it and then when I took the older phone to the store, the seller noticed a crack on the display glass. I had the phone for 1 day and that was still in bed because I was on PN, but I was allowed to go for a walk in the afternoon. I didn't notice anything. I have no doubts about any extem during one-day use. Samsung's approach is the same disaster as the crap about quality and durability. The phone of this series is my third and last one. I was fooled by your, from my experience, fraudulent advertising. Is it quality for 40?
