Samsung's reach is truly comprehensive. Everyone knows, that it mainly produces mobile phones, TVs and white goods. But it will also catch on here and there, as was the case, for example, with headsets for virtual reality (but we may still see those). This year, he introduced a projector, and even if it is a unique product, it is not exactly a flight.
No, it doesn't have its own battery, so you have to power it from the mains, on the go, from a big enough power bank with enough power. The light output is then 550 lumens, which is a figure that, if you are not familiar with projectors, probably doesn't tell you much. It was precisely because of him that a certain wave of criticism fell on the projector. Yes, it is not friends with the Sun, but after my testing I can say with a clear conscience that it is completely fine on a gray day and with normal evening room lighting.

Tizen rules
If we mentioned some ailments right at the beginning, they need to be balanced with positives. These are clearly ease of use, connection to a smartphone and portability. The Freestyle contains the Tizen operating system, which is the same as Samsung's smart TVs and Smart Monitors, so if you've had anything to do with it before, it's clear what to expect from it. The projector can therefore live without any connection with other technology.

For example, it can complete the atmosphere of long winter evenings with the animation of a burning fire (Ambient mode, however, offers more scenes). In it, you can play YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, Disney+ and even various purely Czech platforms. You control everything with the included controller, the same one you'll find on the Smart Monitor M1, which has direct shortcuts for different platforms.

Inexhaustible possibilities
After a quick pairing with the phone, the projector can then serve as a wireless speaker that sends pleasant effects to your wall. Then there's Smart View, which mirrors your content from Galaxy device (which may have a blacked-out display), but also understands AirPlay of iPhones and, of course, there is also DeX. But you can also use the phone's display as a touchpad or keyboard if you want to surf the boundless waters of the Internet.

Freestyle is capable of DLNA, it can mirror content from Samsung televisions, it understands external memories. Just be careful here that there is only one USB-C connector, so for power and reading from a flash drive or memory card (perhaps also in the case of photos) you need the appropriate accessories. As with the Smart Monitor M1, there is microHDMI, which is also a bit limiting.

Autotune everything
Image settings include color correction, automatic focusing and automatic image leveling if the projector is not pointing perpendicular to the wall. However, you can also set it manually if you want to delay it. The resolution is FullHD and you should stay from 30 to 100 inches from the projection surface, 2,5 m seems to be ideal. If you go further, the blur will be visible. The joke here is that if you don't have any free wall, you simply send the image to the ceiling thanks to the positioning base. Perfect for the bedroom.
Just be prepared for the fact that the projector heats up quite a bit and purrs to the rhythm (30 dB), which can be a bit disturbing in quiet movie scenes, but I didn't come across such a scenario. As already mentioned, the Freestyle also has a speaker. It has a power of 5W, which is not a lot, but surprisingly it is enough. If you want, you can connect Bluetooth speakers.

You can forgive the Freestyle for everything, whether it is the absence of a battery, whether it is possibly a lower light output, whether it is heating or noise. It's the perfect party device to get you through Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, cabin romance, glamping, etc. The only thing you can't fault is the price. The original 25 CZK has already fallen to around 19, but it's still enough. However, if you want to experience something new, get a new TV, you will experience disproportionately more fun here. Samsung also sells a portable case for the projector, which the Freestyle clearly predestined to not be enthroned in just one place at home. You can get it for just under 1 CZK (you can buy it here, for example).
Tried, don't take. For that price, I'd rather take the Xgimi Halo...
Why brother? Why not take? Some suitable arguments would be found. I had the opportunity to see this device and was in awe.
Just look at the parameters... I've never seen a projector with a worse contrast ratio and brightness... if the projector doesn't have at least 4000 lumens, it's not very usable... at 250 lumens, which Samsung offers, maybe even a candle will shine through the image...
There are definitely better alternatives. Either Halo(+) or Elfin...
Because for the price it's absolute crap. As Honza already wrote here, for that price the Xgimi Halo or maybe the Xiaomi Mi Smart Projector that I have...has a higher brightness, decent sound and can be bought for 12 will definitely do a better job....
