It is definitely one of the most popular note-taking apps for a long time Evernote. Its origin even goes back to the times when even modern smartphones did not exist. However, it quickly adapted to the age of smartphones and became the productivity "app" of choice for many. It has been an independent brand throughout its existence, but now it has been revealed that it is getting a new owner. However, users need not worry about this change, at least for now.

Ivan Small, CEO of Evernote Corporation, the company behind the popular note organizer, has announced that Bending Spoons is taking over the app. Bending Spoons is the Italian developer of the highly rated photo and video editing apps Remini and Splice. The acquisition, the financial details of which were not disclosed, is expected to be completed early next year.

Small assured Evernote fans that the app will uphold its commitment to user data and privacy. He further hinted that the app could benefit from the new owner's technologies and become part of a larger suite of apps that now includes photo and video editing tools. Even after the acquisition is complete, Evernote won't change overnight for its users, but in the near future it plans to continue its current plan to add new features, such as Microsoft 365 calendar integration. The app has already brought a number of small but highly requested features such as widgets for Android i iOS, customizable notes preferences, or a mini sidebar on tablets.

However, none of this is a guarantee that the app will stay the same forever. As the two companies deepen the integration over time, users should expect major changes to how it works, from managing their account to subscribing to Bending Spoons. However, if its functionality were to differ to the extent that it would cease to be what it is, there are many alternatives that can replace it, such as Notion, Notability, Microsoft OneNote, Zoho Notebook or ClickUp.
