Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) has published a new message, which sheds some light on the state of the flexible phone market in recent quarters. It also predicts what to expect next year as competition grows for Samsung's jigsaws.

According to the DSCC report, a record 3 million foldable smartphones were shipped to the global market in the 6rd quarter of this year. Unsurprisingly, Samsung's "benders" made up most of it, namely 5,2 million or 85%. The two best-selling flip phones were – also unsurprisingly – Galaxy From Flip4 a From Fold4.

However, the last quarter of this year is not looking so good for the foldable device market. DSCC expects a nearly 50% drop in deliveries compared to the third quarter and a 25% drop compared to the same period last year. According to this projection, Samsung's share will fall by seven percentage points. The company notes that this will be the segment's first year-over-year decline, which it believes will contribute to iPhone 14. However, he estimates that the segment will gain momentum next year as new flexible devices introduce more players, and that shipments will reach up to 17 million. In addition, it expects six different brands to have a market share of at least 3% next year.

As a result, Samsung's jigsaw puzzle market share could drop from 2023% this year to 78% in 72. According to DSCC, one of the Korean giant's main rivals next year could be Oppo, which recently unveiled two new flexible phones Find N2023 and Find N2 Flip.
