When Samsung introduced its top line at the beginning of last year Galaxy S22, there have been reports that the company expects to sell 30 million units of these devices worldwide. But according to the South Korean report media that will not be the case.

For comparison, the cumulative deliveries of the series Galaxy S21s in 2021 were around 25 million units, so the increase was logical. But there are many factors that have affected Samsung and the sales of its flagships. One of the reasons for lower sales of the series could be the controversy surrounding the GOS (Game Optimization Service). However, the main reason for lower sales in the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2022 is likely to be the global economic downturn.

In addition, it does not have to be a problem only for Galaxy S, but it can also have a significant impact on sales Galaxy From the Flip4, which simply wouldn't have reached such numbers as its predecessor. Reports suggest that sales of Samsung's latest foldable phone are simply lagging in the US and other key markets. The year before last, it was the South Korean company's best-selling phone Galaxy A12 with 51,8 million units shipped, while Galaxy The A02 was second, by a really wide margin (18,3 million units).

But the company reportedly sold more 5G smartphones and its average selling price (ASP) increased slightly. According to market research firm Omdia, Samsung's ASP increased from $280 in Q2 2020 to $328 in Q2 2021 and $383 in Q2 2022. In comparison, the company's ASP Apple for Q2 2022 it was $959, which is much more than Samsung. But it is logical because Apple focuses only on the highest segment.

Samsung-Smartphone-ASP-2022-vs-Apple

With the ever-growing popularity of Apple, whose customers are not sorry to spend really high sums for their most expensive phones, Samsung faces a clear problem. On the one hand, he would like to sell more devices belonging to the highest segment, but for the fact that he is the number one on the market (however, as far as the volume of smartphone sales is concerned), he owes it precisely to the lowest series. It will be interesting to see how the economic crisis, the war in Ukraine and, last but not least, the delayed deliveries of iPhone 14 Pro due to closed Chinese factories due to covid lockdowns affect everything.
