Before the start of this year's CES fair, Samsung introduced a series of new monitors. Among them, the new version of the Smart Monitor M8, which brings more intelligent software, an improved web camera and a more flexible stand.

The new Smart Monitor M8 (M80C) has a 4K QLED (VA) panel in sizes 27 and 32 inches. Like its predecessor, it is offered in four colors: blue, green, pink and white. Its height-adjustable stand can be tilted and rotated up to 90 degrees for greater freedom and adjustability. If you want to save space, you can replace the stand with a VESA mount.

In addition, the monitor received 2.2-channel stereo speakers with Adaptive Sound+ support, two USB-C ports, Micro HDMI connector, Wi-Fi 5 standard and AirPlay protocol. The USB-C port supports up to 65W charging for connected devices.

The new Smart Monitor M8 comes with a newer version of the Tizen operating system. Besides being able to stream media like Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Prime Video, Samsung TV Plus and YouTube without the need for an additional device, allows you to control smart home devices compatible with the standard Matter. However, support for the standard will require a software update.

Previous monitors of the Smart Monitor series supported navigation in the Tizen user interface using the included remote control. Samsung has now added mouse support. The monitor also has voice assistants Alexa and Bixby, which can be interacted with using the remote control.

As the Samsung Gaming Hub service is integrated into the monitor, it can stream high-quality games through cloud gaming platforms such as Amazon Luna, Xbox, GeForce Now and Utomik. The new My Contents feature displays useful informace, when the monitor is not actively being used. For example, when it "captures" your smartphone in Bluetooth range, it can display your photos, calendar entries, weather, etc. Once your phone is no longer detected, the monitor returns to standby mode.

The monitor also has an improved web camera. It now has 2K resolution and native support for video calling services such as Google Meet. In addition, it can detect a face and automatically zoom in to keep it in the frame even if it's moving. Finally, the monitor is equipped with the Samsung Knox Vault security platform, which stores, encrypts and protects the user's personal data in an isolated location outside the operating system.

Samsung has not announced when the new Smart Monitor M8 will be available or its price. However, it can be expected to go on sale in the first half of this year in Europe, the US and South Korea, and to be priced similarly to its predecessor.
