Samsung's top smartphones ever since Galaxy The S4 (ie since 2013) supports the Qi wireless charging standard. In terms of charging speed and convenience, not much has changed over the years. However, this could change significantly in the near future because on androidové phones is going to use Apple's MagSafe wireless charging standard Qi2. Yes, you read that right.

WPC (Wireless Power Consortium), which is responsible for the development of the Qi wireless charging standard, presented the new Qi2023 standard at CES 2. What's interesting about the new standard is that it's based on Apple's MagSafe technology, which magnetically attaches the charger to the device and secures its position with a set of magnets. In the future, the standard will be supported by smartphones with Androidem, but also wireless headphones and other devices.

The organization noted that consumers and retailers often confuse Qi-compatible accessories with Qi-certified accessories. Qi-compatible devices are not WPC certified and may exhibit inconsistencies in performance and quality. The organization therefore cooperated with Applem to introduce a "global standard" of wireless charging for various consumer electronics devices. Initially, Qi2 will support a maximum charging power of 15W, but it should be more in the future.

Qi2 will begin to be implemented in smartphones and other devices later this year. It can be expected that Samsung will start implementing the new standard in its high-end phones from next year. It is possible that the series will be the first to have it Galaxy S24.
