As you may recall, Samsung introduced a projector at CES last year The Freestyle. Thanks to its portable circular design, the ability to project onto tables, walls and ceilings, and the Tizen operating system, it has gained quite a lot of popularity. Now the Korean giant revealed its new version at the CES 2023 fair.

The updated projector The Freestyle brings design and other improvements. Instead of a can-shaped design, it has a tower shape, which Samsung says it chose because it fits easily into any type of room.

On the hardware side, the projector now has three lasers, similar to other ultra-short throw projectors. It also added a new technology called Edge Blend, which allows the user to connect two Freestyle 2023 projectors and project content simultaneously for ultra-wide projection. Pleasingly, this feature does not require manual setup or manual positioning to line up two images.

The new Freestyle still runs on the Tizen TV operating system. Users can still interact with apps either by touching the projected screen or using gestures. Samsung Gaming Hub is also integrated into the device, allowing users to play games via PC, consoles or cloud game streaming services such as Amazon Luna, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, GeForce Now and Utomik. In addition, it has SmartThings and Samsung Health applications. Other features include automatic keystone correction or automatic zoom.

Samsung did not reveal the price or availability of the new projector. However, it can be expected to cost similar to the original The Freestyle, which went on sale less than a year ago at a price of $899.
