Samsung presented a new OLED display for smartphones at the CES 2023 trade fair, which runs until Sunday. The display is UDR 2000 certified, which indicates that it offers a peak brightness of 2000 nits. Since the Korean giant in its phone series Galaxy With it usually using the latest and greatest screens made by its Samsung Display division, it is possible that it will use the new display in the smartphone Galaxy S23Ultra.
This isn't the first time we've heard of Samsung's UDR screen. Informace it appeared on the air in the middle of last year, when the company applied for the registration of the UDR trademark. According to Samsung, its new OLED display was verified by independent testing and validation firm UL (Underwriter Laboratories), which awarded it UDR 2000 certification.
The display of the current highest "flagship" of Samsung Galaxy S22Ultra it has a peak brightness of around 1750 nits. The screens that the Korean giant supplies for the series iPhone 14 Pro, however, have a peak brightness of over 2000 nits. This means that Samsung Display already has the technology to produce displays with a brightness of over 2000 nits. So what makes the new OLED display different?
Although Samsung did not reveal what the UDR acronym stands for, it is most likely Ultra Dynamic Range. HDR (High Dynamic Range) increases the dynamic range of the display so that the displayed content looks more vivid. Since "Ultra" is considered better than "High", Samsung's new display could have a better dynamic range than the screens used in its current line of smartphones.
Samsung compared its new display to a regular OLED screen, and looking at both panels, the UDR display appears to have better dynamic range along with higher brightness. This supports our theory that Samsung is trying to convey that its new screen has better dynamic range compared to current HDR-equipped OLED displays. This means that Galaxy The S23 Ultra could have a display that not only matches the screen brightness of the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, but also boasts better dynamic range, possibly making it the best smartphone display ever.
Mods again, there was no mention of the S23U at the conference, that this display should be installed there, you trolls.
Is it necessary to insult Mr. Janko? Of course, Samsung won't say: “this is a display Galaxy S23", he will tell us that only during his presentation. But he directly offers that it should be him if he wants to be equal to Apple. If he doesn't show a shift, he will be left behind and criticized for it. Try to be more polite next time, or refrain from commenting, it's not helpful anyway, thanks.
