Google announced, that Google Maps will now work on smartwatches running the operating system Wear OS and LTE connection, even if not paired with a smartphone. It simply means that the app will now offer turn-by-turn navigation on the smartwatch Galaxy Watch4, Galaxy Watch4 Classic, Galaxy Watch5 to Galaxy Watch5 Pro, even if they are not connected to the phone.
Needless to say, an LTE-enabled smartwatch must have an active data plan for Google Maps to work independently even if your watch is not connected to your smartphone.
