As you may know, Samsung smartphones and tablets come with a Nearby Device Scanning app/feature that constantly searches for compatible devices nearby, such as watches Galaxy Watch, headphones Galaxy Buds and other devices supporting the SmartThings platform. Whenever the feature finds a compatible device, it sends the user a notification or popup asking if they want to connect to it.

Now, Samsung has released an update for Nearby Device Scanning that brings support for Matter Easy Pair. The app will now send you a notification and/or popup whenever it detects a standard-compliant device nearby Matter. You can download the new version of the application (11.1.08.7) in the store Galaxy Store.

Most brands of smart home devices have their own connectivity standard and ecosystem for them, which means they are usually not compatible with other brands' smart home products. This is to help address the aforementioned new Matter smart home standard.

Some of the world's biggest technology giants, such as Samsung, Google, Apple or Amazon, meaning their upcoming products will support the new standard and be compatible with each other. Users will thus be able to control smart home devices from various brands more easily than ever before.
