Apple has been working with famous filmmakers for many years to create short films that are shot using iPhones. Samsung also entered this field last year when it teamed up with British filmmaker Joe Wright to make a short film using the phone Galaxy S21Ultra. Now the Korean giant has entered into a similar partnership with oscarfilmmaker Charlie Kaufman (known for films such as In the Skin of John Malkovich, Adaptation or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) to make a short film using Galaxy S22Ultra.

Jackals & Fireflies is a short film about a woman who is going through a change in her life. The YouTube trailer shows her talking about a person in various scenes with piano music playing in the background. Most of the scenes in the trailer were shot in a dark environment and despite the lack of good lighting, the scenes look really fantastic. However, if you look closely, you will notice that some scenes are slightly noisy. But overall, the short film looks exceptionally good for being shot on a smartphone. Who would have thought just a few years ago that it would be possible to make films like this (even if "only" short ones)?

It is not known at this time when the Jackals & Fireflies short film will be released, but it is possible that Samsung will release it during performance its next flagship series Galaxy S23, to show how capable its smartphones are when it comes to shooting videos.
