One UI 5 might be the best update Samsung's DeX mode has received in years. Both One UI 5.0 and One UI 5.1 brought a number of useful changes and additions to it. This shows that the Korean giant is far from giving up on its desktop environment.
The One UI 5.0 extension added several meaningful changes to DeX, but mainly increased its performance. A smart Finder icon has been added to the taskbar, a new mini calendar has been added and the notification center has been redesigned. Better optimizations seem to have laid the groundwork for One UI 5.1, which focuses more on improving multitasking than anything else.
The One UI 5.1 superstructure that debuted in the series Galaxy S23, allows you to resize both split view windows by dragging the handle that separates them. This is a major improvement for those using split screen viewing in DeX. If you've ever tried resizing windows in a split-screen view in a previous version of One UI, you know why. However, it is not possible to resize both windows at the same time.
One UI 5.1 also improves multitasking and productivity by following suit Windows adds the ability to shape the corner window, making it easier for users to use more than two apps at once. This addition basically turns split screen mode into multi window mode.
The above additions show that Samsung is committed to continuing to improve its desktop mode, which we can only applaud. The update with One UI 5.1 should start on supported device to be released in early March.
And how about using DeX and a 21:9 monitor 🙂
Totally normal. It was native on the Tab S8+, the phone needs GoodLock and the MultiStar add-on. He added 4k and 3440x1440 on my S21 FE thanks. And that was before OneUI 5.1
Well, it would be nice if dex learned more resolution and especially docks. I would definitely like it if I could connect a phone to a USB-C dock with connected ethernet, keyboard, mouse and ultrawide UWHD monitor and it would work. Unfortunately, it doesn't work and I don't know why (I also have good lock installed).
I use a Dell docking station and it works great with my S21U. A monitor, BT keyboard, BT mouse and headphone amplifier are connected from it.
I have a monitor and a LAN and USB hub in it, it even works as a KVM switch. Tab S8+ gave 21:9 just fine, S21 FE wanted good Lock with multistar. It runs 3440×1440 and there is also an option for 4k. But I don't know if it handles super ultrawide 32:9 and higher than 4k image width, i.e. different 5k/3k monitors or 6k from Apple
So it works normally for me via the HP dock at work. I just connect my mobile and I can use the monitor, mouse, keyboard and other things connected to the dock. Maybe it just doesn't work with all docks.
Connect the phone to the docking station and use it as a PC????? So iSheep can only dream 😀 A completely different galaxy... COMPLETELY!
See? As an apple grower, I am also amazed 😉
This is one of the few things that bothers me Androidit's tempting. iPhone although I connect it to the monitor, it even works wirelessly, but it only mirrors the image. It does not have a productive mode. Even iPads. But hand on heart. Even though I have a Samsung phone, I prefer to connect the Tab S8+ to the monitor, which also works as a second monitor in tablet mode, but shares the mouse with the keyboard.
Of course, how one handles the function is entirely up to them. It certainly makes more sense in the case of a tablet, but the important thing is that it also works with a phone.
