Samsung may be working on a watch Galaxy Watch with a built-in projector. The Korean giant's patent application reveals that the projector could be used for useful use cases.
In the patent application, according to the website Wareable writes of “a projection display on the side of the case configured to show informace on the display area adjacent to the case”. In other words, a projector Galaxy Watch it can mirror the main screen on an adjacent surface (such as the back of the hand) or display another informace.
From the images accompanying the patent application, it appears that the projector would display compared to the display of a watch informace over a much larger area. The filing also states that “the projection display can display informace, which differs from the information displayed on the display module”. As the site noted, this could mean users will be able to view videos sent via messaging apps like WhatsApp. Obviously, this would be just one possible use case.
The accompanying images also show a series of lenses and light-emitting diodes aligned in two rows, which could allow undistorted projection of an image or content onto the hand. It is possible that the condition for the content to be displayed correctly will be a perfectly straight wrist.
Whether Samsung is really working on a smart watch with a projector, or if this project is just in his head for now and he wants to keep it "suspended" for the future, it is impossible to say at the moment. If so, it could bring a small revolution to the field of wearable electronics.
I wonder what the possible addition of a "projector" would do to battery life. Even so, the battery is the main stumbling block for smart watches.
Let's hope Samsung has it figured out.
This is nonsense, it will be on the watch in at least 3 years.
If only engineers would think about how to turn a watch into a device that can last at least a day without charging 😁.
I have a gw 5 pro, everything turns on and lasts more than a day...
I would appreciate a Photo lens and a longer battery (at least 7 days)
